Authentication


You can view/edit the settings for the Authentication features, and define logged-in users information.

[Advanced Settings]

Set information required for the authentication.

Note

The displayed items vary depending on the authentication method implement in your environment.

[Failed Access Log]

Set whether to enable logging of authentication failures, and the number of login attempts to be recorded as failure.

[Limit Login Attempts of System Administrator]

Set whether to enable locking of the user account with system administrator permissions, and the number of login attempts allowed.

[Limit Login Attempts of Local User]

Set whether to enable locking of local users, and the number of login attempts allowed.

This item is displayed when configuring [Log In to Local Accounts].

[Server Response Timeout]

Set the timeout time applied when accessing the server.

This item is displayed when configuring [Log In to Remote Accounts] or [Smart Card Login].

[Search Timeout]

Set the timeout time applied when searching user information.

This item is displayed when configuring [Log In to Remote Accounts] or [Smart Card Login].

[Mask User ID (***)]

Set the way how logged-in user ID is displayed.

[Get User Details at Login]

Set whether to retrieve remote user information.

[Store Login Information on Device]

Set whether to store user information used during remote authentication in the printer.

When the storing of login information into the device is enabled, once a user completes remote authentication, information on the user is stored in the printer, and thus the user can log in to the printer using user information stored in the printer even when the remote authentication server is not started at remote authentication.

This feature is only applied to users who logged in to the printer with smart card.

This item can be set when [Login Type] is set to [Log In to Remote Accounts].

[Assign User Principal Name (UPN)]

Set whether to use the UPN (User Principal Name) format for user names.

[Guest User]

When [Log In to Remote Accounts] or [Customized Login] is selected in [Login Type], set whether to allow users that are not registered with the remote authentication server to use the printer as guest users.

[Guest Password]

Set a password for guests.

[Retype Password]

Enter the password for guests again for confirmation.

[Use of Smart Card]

Set whether to use smart card.

[Smart Card Link Mode]

Set whether to use the smart card link mode.

[Input Settings]

Set character types allowed for user IDs at authentication.

[Password Policy]

Configure how passwords are handled at authentication.

[Minimum Length]

Set whether to restrict the minimum length of login passwords.

[Minimum Number of Characters to Restrict]

If you choose to restrict the minimum length, also set the minimum number of characters.

[Maximum Length]

Set the maximum number of characters for login passwords.

[Password Contains User ID]

Set whether to use user names of their login password strings.

[Required Characters in Password]

Set character restrictions for the login password strings.

[Login Type]

Set whether to ask users for an action to be authenticated.

[No Login Required]

Select this item not to authenticate users attempting to operate the printer.

Clicking the [Select] button specifies No Login Required.

[Log In to Local Accounts]

Select this item to use information pre-registered with the printer.

Click the [Select]/[Edit] button to select the way how user IDs are entered.

Important

When setting [Log In to Local Accounts] or [Log In to Remote Accounts], user accounts registered with the printer are listed. To edit the settings for individual user account, click the user name, and see User Accounts.

[Log In to Remote Accounts]

Important

Once you change the setting to [Log In to Remote Accounts], or change from [Log In to Remote Accounts] to another setting, the below data is deleted.

  • Information on all of the users
  • Personal folders and personal job flows

Use this item to enable authentication against the remote authentication server. User information does not need to be registered with the printer.

Click the [Select]/[Edit] button to select an authentication system.

[Kerberos Server Settings]

Fill in [Domain], [Primary Server Name / IP Address] and [Secondary Server Name / IP Address].

Click the [Add] button to add a server. Up to four servers can be registered.

[LDAP]

For more information on the settings, see the [LDAP] dialog box.

[Authentication Agent]

To use ApeosWare Management Suite (separately sold software manufactured by former Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.) as the authentication system, select [Authentication Agent].

[Customized Login]

Select this item to use your customized authentication system.

[Logout Confirmation]

Set whether to display a confirmation screen when users logged out from the system.
