Protocol Settings - TCP/IP

This page allows you to configure the Host Name, IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway Address of the printer, and WINS Server Address. You can obtain the addresses by either [Get IP Address] or [Get WINS Server Address]. The [Host Name] is the same as the SMB host name.

Please confirm the IP address settings with the network administrator. Invalid [IP Address], [Subnet Mask] and [Gateway Address] will not work.
The setting for this item will be valid only when the device is restarted. Click the [Apply New Settings and Reboot Device] button to restart the device.

Host Name
Enter the host name with not more than 15 characters. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, and hyphen (-).
[SMB] settings will be changed automatically when this setting is changed.

Get IP Address
Allows you to set the method for obtaining the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address with one of the following options.


• Manual
  The user will specify all the addresses.
  
• DHCP
  The address will automatically be set via DHCP. In this case, the address entered in the following items will be ignored.
  
• BOOTP
  The address will automatically be set via BOOTP. In this case, the address entered in the following items will be ignored.
  
• RARP
  The address will automatically be set via RARP. In this case, the address entered in the following items will be ignored.
  
• DHCP/Autonet
  The address will automatically be set via DHCP/Autonet. In this case, the address entered in the following items will be ignored.
  

IP Address
Allows the user to enter the IP address allocated to the printer in the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd format.
Each section of the IP address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is a value between 0 and 255. Note that values 127 and 224 to 254 are not valid for aaa only.

Subnet Mask
Allows the user to enter subnet mask in the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd format.
Each section of the subnet mask aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is a value between 0 and 255. However, 255.255.255.255 is invalid.

Gateway Address
Allows the user to enter the gateway address in the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd format.
Each section of the gateway address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is a value between 0 and 255. Note that values 127 and 224 to 254 are not valid for aaa only.

WINS Server
Configure WINS Server Address when using WINS.
This item will not appear if your printer does not support SMB.

Get WINS Server Address
To configure the primary and secondary WINS Server Address automatically using DHCP, select the check box in the relevant section. If the check box of this item is selected, the following address setting will be ignored.
If you enable the DHCP to automatically obtain the WINS server addresses, you must also set the method for obtaining the IP address to DHCP.

Primary WINS Server Address
Enter WINS server address in the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd format.
Each section of the server address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is a value between 0 and 255. Note that values 127 and 224 to 254 are not valid for aaa only.

Secondary WINS Server Address
Enter a back up WINS server address in the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd format.
Each section of the server address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is a value between 0 and 255. Note that values 127 and 224 to 254 are not valid for aaa only.
