Protocol Settings - SMB
This page allows you to configure the following settings for SMB.
This item will not appear if your printer does not support SMB.
The setting marked with (*1) will be valid only after the device is restarted. Click the [Apply New Settings and Reboot Device] button.
Host Name (*1)
Enter the host name with not more than 15 characters. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, and hyphen (-).
This host name is the same as TCP/IP Host Name. [TCP/IP] settings will be changed automatically when this setting is changed.
Workgroup (*1)
Enter the name of the workgroup with not more than 15 characters. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters and the following symbols:

Administrator Name (*1)
Enter the administrator name with not more than 20 alphanumeric characters. You can use both alphanumeric characters and symbols.
Administrator Password (*1)
Enter the administrator password with not more than 14 characters. The characters that can be entered include alphanumeric characters, hyphen (-), and underscore (_). Password entered will appear as "*".
Password that has been set will not be displayed on the screen. The original setting will remain valid if no entry is made.
Re-enter Administrator Password
Re-enter the same password specified in [Administrator Password] for verification.
Maximum Sessions
Displays the maximum sessions.
Unicode Support (*1)
Configure whether to notify the host name and workgroup name in Unicode characters during SMB transmission.
Auto Master Mode (*1)
Allows the user to configure whether Auto Master Mode is On/Off. When NIC is restarted, the system searches for the browse master (a device that manages the device host name in a workgroup) in its workgroup. Auto Master Mode is [On] and the browse master cannot be found, NIC will become the browse master.
Encrypt Password (*1)
Allow the user to specify whether to encrypt password during SMB transmission.
Print Time-out
Please leave it as the default 600 seconds. Normally, this setting is not changed.
Non-print Time-out
Please leave it as the default 180 second(s). Normally, this setting is not changed.
Transport Protocol
Displays the transport protocol used in SMB. If TCP/IP is being used, click click [TCP/IP] on the page to chagne the TCP/IP settings.
