Protocol Settings - TCP/IP

On the [TCP/IP] page, you can set the scanner's host name, IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, DNS address, and Wins server address. The methods for obtaining these addresses can be selected under the [Get IP Address], [Get DNS Server Address], or [Get WINS Server Address] field.

For the appropriate setting values for the TCP/IP parameters, consult your system administrator. All the settings for [IP Address], [Subnet Mask], and [Gateway Address] must be appropriate for communication with the scanner on your network.
To enable the settings on this page, click the [Apply] button, and switch the scanner off and then on again.

Host Name
Enter the host name within 15 single-byte characters. Alphanumeric characters and hyphens (-) can be used.

Get IP Address
Select the method for obtaining IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address from the following:


• [Manual]
  Select this when setting the addresses manually.
  
• [DHCP/Autonet]
  Select this when setting the addresses automatically using DHCP/Autonet. When this is selected, the addresses entered in the items below will be ignored.
  
• [DHCP]
  Select this when setting the addresses automatically using DHCP. When this is selected, the addresses entered in the items below will be ignored.
  
• [BOOTP]
  Select this when setting the addresses automatically using BOOTP. When this is selected, the addresses entered in the items below will be ignored.
  
• [RARP]
  Select this when setting the addresses automatically using RARP. When this is selected, the addresses entered in the items below will be ignored.
  

Machine IP Address
Displays the IP address set on the scanner.
Set this only when [Get IP Address] is set to [Manual]. The IP address should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 127 and 224 to 254 cannot be used for "aaa".

Subnet Mask
Displays the subnet mask set on the scanner.
Set this only when [Get IP Address] is set to [Manual]. The subnet mask should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 255.255.255.255 is not valid.

Gateway Address
Displays the gateway address set on the scanner.
Set this only when [Get IP Address] is set to [Manual]. The gateway address should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 127 and 224 to 254 cannot be used for "aaa".

DNS
Set this when using DNS.

Get DNS Server Address
When setting the DNS server automatically using DHCP, select the [DHCP] check box. When this check box is selected, the address settings below it will be ignored.
When setting the DNS server address by DHCP, the IP address must be set by DHCP also.

DNS Server Address
Displays the DNS server address to be used.
Set this when the [DHCP] check box is not selected under [Get DNS Server Address]. The DNS server address should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 127 and 224 to 254 cannot be used for "aaa".

DNS Domain Name
Displays the DNS domain name to be used.
Set this when the [DHCP] check box is not selected under [Get DNS Server Address]. The domain name should be entered within 255 bytes.
Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and hyphens (-) can be used. When entering more than one domain names, separate each name with a comma (,) or semicolon (;).

WINS Server
Set this when using WINS.

Get WINS Server Address
When setting the primary and secondary WINS server automatically using the DHCP, select this check box. When this check box is selected, the address settings below it will be ignored.
When setting the WINS server address by DHCP, the IP address must be set by DHCP also.

Primary WINS Server Address
Displays the primary WINS server address to be used.
Set this when the [DHCP] check box is cleared under [Get WINS Server Address]. The primary WINS server address should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 127 and 224 to 254 cannot be used for "aaa".

Secondary WINS Server Address
Displays the secondary WINS server address to be used.
Set this when the [DHCP] check box is not selected under [Get WINS Server Address]. The secondary WINS server address should be entered in a format of "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd".
The "aaa", "bbb", "ccc", and "ddd" represent the numbers between 0 and 255. However, 127 and 224 to 254 cannot be used for "aaa".
