Protocol Settings - E-mail
On the [E-mail] page, you can set the parameters for e-mail.
Machine's E-mail Address
Enter the scanner's e-mail address within 63 bytes. Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), hyphens (-), under bars (_), and an @ sign can be used.
This address will be displayed in the "From:" field on e-mail sent from the scanner.
SMTP Server Address
Enter the IP address or FQDN of the SMTP server (outgoing e-mail server). The IP address or FQDN should be entered within 63 single-byte characters.
To set the FQDN name, the DNS server must be set on [Properties]
tab - [Protocol Settings]
- [TCP/IP] - [DNS].
SMTP Server Port Number
Enter the port number of the SMTP server (outgoing e-mail server).
E-mail Send Authentication
Select the method used when being authenticated by the SMTP server (outgoing e-mail server).
Login Name
When [E-mail Send Authentication] is set to [SMTP AUTH], enter the account user name of the SMTP server within 63 single-byte characters.
Password
Enter the password for the user name set under [Login Name] within 31 single-byte characters.
SMTP Server Connection Status
Displays one of the following five messages in accordance with the status of the connection to the SMTP server.
- "Disabled"
The e-mail port is inactive.
- "Not connected"
Status after the e-mail port started and before the first e-mail is transmitted (SMTP)/received (POP3).
- "Connecting..."
Status after the e-mail transmissions (SMTP)/receptions (POP3) started and before they are finished.
- "Ready"
E-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) completed successfully. This status continues until the next e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.
- "Unable to connect"
E-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) completed abnormally. This status continues until the next e-mail transmission (SMTP)/reception (POP3) starts.
POP3 Server Address
Enter the IP address or FQDN of the POP3 server (incoming e-mail server). The IP address or FQDN should be entered within 63 single-byte characters.
Set this item only when [POP before SMTP (Plain)]/[POP before SMTP (APOP)] is selected in [E-mail Send Authentication]. To set the FQDN name, the DNS server must be set on [Properties]
tab - [Protocol Settings] - [TCP/IP] - [DNS].
POP3 Server Port Number
Enter the port number of the POP3 server.
Set this item only when [POP before SMTP (Plain)]/[POP before SMTP (APOP)] is selected in [E-mail Send Authentication].
Login Name
Enter the user name for the POP3 server within 63 single-byte characters. Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), hyphens (-), under bars (_), and an @ sign can be used.
When [POP before SMTP] is selected, enter the account user name of the POP server.
Set this item only when [POP before SMTP (Plain)]/[POP before SMTP (APOP)] is selected in [E-mail Send Authentication].
Password
Enter the password to the POP3 server within 31 bytes using single-byte alphanumeric characters and symbols.
Set this item only when [POP before SMTP (Plain)]/[POP before SMTP (APOP)] is selected in [E-mail Send Authentication].
POP3 Server Connection
Displays one of the following five messages in accordance with the status of the connection to the POP3 server. For the details of the messages, refer to [SMTP Server Connections Status].
Send to E-mail
Maximum E-mail Size
Enter the maximum size of e-mail to be sent within 50 to 65,565 KB.
Max No. of Pages for Split Send
Large e-mail can be sent by splitting it into pages. Enter the number of pages to split e-mail by within 1 to 500.
