Setting Up Your Web Browser

Before using CentreWare Internet Services, set up your web browser by completing the following steps.

When Using Internet Explorer 7

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [General] tab, click [Languages].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Language:] list.
    Example:
    Japanese [ja]
    English [en] or English (United States) [en-us]

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To set the printer's IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the tool bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Connections] tab, click the [LAN Settings] button.

  3. Set [Proxy server] by one of the following methods:
    • Clear the [Use a proxy server for your LAN] check box.
    • Click the [Advanced] button, set the printer's IP address in [Exceptions], and then click the [OK] button.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the tool bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Security] tab, select [Intranet] (or [Local Internet] depending on the environment) and click the [Custom Level] button.

  3. Scroll to find the [Scripting] header, and ensure that [Active Scripting] is enabled.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 2.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. Select [Advanced] in the [Options] dialog box .

  3. On the [General] tab, click the [Edit Language] button.

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages in order of preference] list.
    Example:
    Japanese [ja]
    English [en] or English (United States) [en-us]

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To set the printer's IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. In the [Options] dialog box, select [Network].

  3. Click the [Connection Settings] button.

  4. Select [Direct connection to the Internet] or [Manual proxy configuration].
    When [Manual proxy configuration] is selected, enter the printer's IP address in [No Proxy for].

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click the [OK] button in the [Option] dialog box.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Options].

  2. In the [Options] dialog box, select [Contents].

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Safari 2.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. Select [System Preferences] from Dock.

  2. Select [International] in [Personal].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages] list.
    Example:
    Japanese [ja]
    English [en] or English (United States) [en-us]

  4. Close the language setting screen.

To set the printer's IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Click the [Change Settings] button under [Proxy].

  4. Select your network from [Location].

  5. From [Show], select the network port you wish to use to access CentreWare Internet Services.

  6. Select the [Configure Proxies] tab, and select [Manually] From [Configure Proxy Settings].

  7. Select one of the following settings.
    • Clear the [Web Proxy(HTTP)] check box under [Select a proxy sever to configure].
    • Select the [Web Proxy(HTTP)] check box under [Select a proxy sever to configure], and then enter the printer's IP address in [Bypass settings for these Hosts & Domains].
      For information on the settings for [Web Proxy Server], consult your system administrator.

  8. Click the [Apply Now] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Security].

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box for Web contents.

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 2.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. On the [General] tab, click [Languages].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages] list.
    Example:
    Japanese [ja]
    English [en] or English (United States) [en-us]

  5. Click the [OK] button in the language setting screen.

  6. Click the [OK] button in the preferences setting screen.

To set the printer's IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Click the [Connection Settings] button on the [Network] tab.

  4. Select [Direct Connection to the Internet] or [Manual Proxy Configuration].
    When [Manual proxy configuration] is selected, enter the printer's IP address in [No Proxy for].

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Close the preferences setting screen.

  2. Select [Contents].
