Protocol Settings - NetWare
This page allows you to configure settings for NetWare and IPX/SPX for transport protocol.
Configuration is also required for the NetWare Server besides the settings on this page. For PServer mode, configure the Print Server Object, Printer Object and Queue Object. For RPrinter Mode, configure Print Server Object and Printer Object. For details, please refer to the NetWare user guide or Help.
This item will not appear if your printer does not support NetWare.
The setting marked with (*1) will be vaild only after NetWare or the device is restarted. Click the [Reset NetWare Port] button or the [Apply New Settings and Reboot Device] button.
The setting marked with (*2) will be valid only after the device is restarted. Click the [Apply New Settings and Reboot Device] button.
Host Name (*1)
Enter the device name with not more than 47 characters.
For PServer Mode, set the Print Server Name (Print Server Object Name). For RPrinter Mode, set the Remote Printer Name (Printer Name in Bindery and Printer Object Name in Directory). The original setting will remain valid if no input is made.
The following characters cannot be used.
; (semi-colon), : (colon), * (asterisk), ? (question mark), . (full stop), , (comma), \ (yen sign or backslash), " (double quotation mark), <> (lesser than and greater than signs), [] (square brackets), +=- (arithmetic signs), | (pipe), / (slash), (space)
Active Mode (*1)
Selects the Active Mode of the printer when using NetWare.
- Bindery:PServer Mode
Selects this option when using the print server mode in NetWare Bindery Service.
- Bindery:RPrinter Mode
Selects this option when using the remote printer mode in NetWare Bindery Service.
- Directory:PServer Mode
Selects this option when using the print server mode in NetWare Directory Service.
- Directory:RPrinter Mode
Selects this option when using remote printer mode in NetWare Directory Service.
Tree Name (*1)
Enter the tree name with not more than 32 characters.
Configure this item only when NetWare Directory Service is used.
The following characters cannot be used.

Context Name (*1)
Enter the context name of the Print Server Object with not more than 255 characters.
Configure this item only when NetWare Directory Service is used.
File Server Name (*1)
Enter the file server name with not more than 47 characters.
Configure this item only when NetWare Bindery Service is used.
The following characters cannot be used.

Print Server Name (*1)
Enter the print server name with not more than 47 characters.
Configure this item only when RPrinter Mode is used.
The following characters cannot be used.

Polling Interval (*1)
Sets the time interval from when print data enters the print queue until printing starts. The setting range is from 1 to 1000 seconds.
Configure this item only when PServer Mode is used.
Receipt Time-out (*1)
Sets the timeout period that confirms data has been received. The setting range is from 1 to 1000 seconds.
Configure this item only when RPrinter Mode is used.
NCP Packet Burst (*2)
Selects whether to use NCP packet burst.
Configure this item only when PServer Mode is used.
Password (*1)
Enter the print server password with not more than 32 characters. Password entered will appear as "*".
Configure this item only when PServer Mode or Directory:RPrinter Mode is selected.
Re-enter Password
Re-enter the same password for verification.
Status
The following 15 messages appear according to the conditions of the device.
- Disabled
- Initializing
- Searching for file server
- Searching for directory tree
- File server not found
- Directory tree not found
- Unable to log in to file server
- Unable to log in to directory tree
- Print Server password is incorrect
- Printer information not found
- Print Server information not found
- Normal (Idle)
- Resetting
- System Error
- NetWare not configured
Logical Printer Number
Displays the printer number during RPrinter Mode.
Transport Protocol - IPX/SPX Settings
Configure the settings for IPX/SPX protocol used as transport protocol in NetWare.
Frame Type (*2)
Selects IPX/SPX frame type from the following:
- Auto
Automatically configures the active frame type.
- Ethernet II
Selects Ethernet II frame type.
- Ethernet 802.3
Selects IEEE802.3 frame type.
- Ethernet 802.2
Selects IEEE802.2 frame type.
- Ethernet SNAP
Selects SNAP frame type.
Current Frame Type
Displays the current frame type.
Network Address
Displays the IPX network address.
[Reset NetWare Port] button
Resets NetWare port and applies new settings.
This button is displayed only when NetWare port is enabled.
[Apply New Settings] button
