Setting Up Your Web Browser

Before using CentreWare Internet Services, set up your web browser by completing the following steps.
You can launch the CentreWare Internet Services only when [InternetServices] is set to [Enable] (the factory default) on the operator panel. Check the operator panel setting if you cannot launch the CentreWare Internet Services.
The CentreWare Internet Services pages may be unreadable if the language differs from that of your operating system.

When Using Internet Explorer 8.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [General] tab, click [Languages].

  3. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Language] list.
    Example:
    English (United States) [en-us]

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Connections] tab, click the [LAN Settings] button.

  3. Set [Proxy server] by one of the following methods:
    • Clear the [Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).] check box.
    • Click the [Advanced] button, set the printer's IP address in [Exceptions], and then click the [OK] button.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Security] tab, select [Local intranet], and click the [Custom level] button.

  3. Scroll to find the [Scripting] header, and ensure that [Active Scripting] is enabled.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

  5. On the [Internet Options] screen, click the [OK] button.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From [Tools] on the menu bar, select [Internet Options].

  2. On the [Advanced] tab, scroll down to the [Security] heading and select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  3. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 16.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From the [Firefox] button, select [Options] > [Options].

  2. Select [Content] on the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Click the [Choose] button under [Languages].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages in order of preference] list.
    Example:
    English [en] or English/United States [en-us]

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From the [Firefox] button, select [Options] > [Options].

  2. Select [Advanced] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. On the [Network] tab, click the [Settings] button.

  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select [No proxy], if you do not want to use a proxy.
    • Select [Auto-detect proxy settings for this network].
    • Select [Manual proxy configuration], and then enter a hostname and a port number if you have a list of one or more proxy servers. If you have an IP address that does not use a proxy, enter the IP address of your printer in the [No Proxy for] edit box.
    • Select [Automatic proxy configuration URL], and then enter a proxy configuration file's URL. Click the [Reload] button to load the settings.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From the [Firefox] button, select [Options] > [Options].

  2. Select [Content] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box.

  4. Click [OK] in the [Options] dialog box.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From the [Firefox] button, select [Options] > [Options].

  2. Select [Advanced] in the [Options] dialog box.

  3. Select the [Encryption] tab. Under [Protocols], select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  4. Click the [OK] button.

When Using Google Chrome 22.0 (Windows)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Languages and spell-checker settings...] button in the [Languages] section.

  5. Select the language to be used in [Languages].
    Example:
    English or English (United States)
    If the display language you want to use is already selected for display, [Google Chrome is displayed in this language] is shown. In this case, you do not have to change the setting. Close the [Settings] tab.

  6. If the language you want to use is not displayed in the list, click the [Add] button, select the language from the displayed list and then click the [OK] button.

  7. Click the [Display Google Chrome in this language] button.

  8. Close all the browser windows and relaunch the browser.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Change proxy settings...] button in the [Network] section.

  5. On the [Connections] tab of the [Internet Properties] dialog box, click the [LAN settings] button.

  6. Set [Proxy server] by one of the following methods:
    • Clear the [Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).] check box.
    • Click the [Advanced] button, set the printer's IP address in [Exceptions], and then click the [OK] button.

  7. Click the [OK] button.

  8. On the [Internet Properties] dialog box, click the [OK] button.

  9. Close the [Settings] tab.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Content settings...] button in the [Privacy] section.

  5. Make sure that [Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)] is selected in the [JavaScript] section.

  6. Click [x] on the upper right to exit [Content settings].

  7. Close the [Settings] tab.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Change proxy settings...] button in the [Network] section.

  5. On the [Advanced] tab of the [Internet Properties] dialog box, scroll down to the [Security] heading and select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  6. On the [Internet Properties] dialog box, click the [OK] button.

  7. Close the [Settings] tab.

When Using Safari 5.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. Select [System Preferences] from Dock.

  2. Select [Language & Text] in [Personal].

  3. Select [Language].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the languages list.
    Example:
    English

  5. Close the language setting screen.

  6. Restart the computer.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Click the [Change Settings] button next to [Proxies].

  4. Select one of the following settings:
    • Clear the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure].
    • Select the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure], and then enter the printer's IP address in [Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains].
      For information on the settings for [Web Proxy (HTTP)] and [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)], consult your system administrator.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

  6. Click the [Apply] button.

  7. Close the [Network] screen.

  8. Close the preferences setting screen.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Safari] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Security].

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box for [Web content].

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

When Using Mozilla Firefox 16.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Content].

  3. Click the [Choose] button under [Languages].

  4. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages in order of preference] list.
    Example:
    English [en] or English/United States [en-us]

  5. Click [OK] in the language setting screen.

  6. Close the preferences setting screen.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Click the [Settings] button on the [Network] tab.

  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select [No proxy], if you do not want to use a proxy.
    • Select [Auto-detect proxy settings for this network].
    • Select [Manual proxy configuration], and then enter a hostname and a port number if you have a list of one or more proxy servers. If you have an IP address that does not use a proxy, enter the IP address of your printer in the [No Proxy for] edit box.

  5. Click the [OK] button.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Content].

  3. Select the [Enable JavaScript] check box.

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

To enable SSL communication:

Procedure

  1. From [Firefox] on the menu bar, select [Preferences].

  2. Select [Advanced].

  3. Select the [Encryption] tab. Under [Protocols], select the [Use SSL 3.0] and [Use TLS 1.0] check boxes.

  4. Close the preferences setting screen.

When Using Google Chrome 22.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the display language:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Language settings...] button in the [Languages] section.

  5. Specify the display language to be used at the top of the [Languages] list.
    Example:
    English or English (United States)

  6. If the language you want to use is not displayed in the list, click the [Add] button, select the language from the displayed list and then click the [OK] button.
    Specify the added language at the top of the list.

  7. Click the [OK] button.

  8. Close all the browser windows and relaunch the browser.

To set the printer IP address not to use a proxy server:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Change proxy settings...] button in the [Network] section.

  5. Click the [Proxies] button.

  6. Select one of the following settings:
    • Clear the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure].
    • Select the [Web Proxy (HTTP)] or [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)] check box under [Select a protocol to configure], and then enter the printer's IP address in [Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains].
      For information on the settings for [Web Proxy (HTTP)] and [Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)], consult your system administrator.

  7. Click the [OK] button.

  8. Click the [Apply] button.

  9. Close the [Network] screen.

  10. Close the [Settings] tab.

To enable JavaScript:

Procedure

  1. Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon on the upper right of the screen.

  2. Select [Settings].

  3. Select [Show advanced settings...].

  4. Click the [Content settings...] button in the [Privacy] section.

  5. Make sure that [Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)] is selected in the [JavaScript] section.

  6. Click [x] on the upper right to exit [Content settings].

  7. Close the [Settings] tab.
