Overview
This page describes the functions and page display format of CentreWare Internet Services.
What is CentreWare Internet Services?
CentreWare Internet Services is a software application that allows you to display, configure, and change the current status or settings of your printer through a web browser.
CentreWare Internet Services enables you to configure network settings through a networked computer instead of on the printer's operator panel.
Some settings do not become active unless you reboot the printer from the CWIS application or manually turn off and on the printer after clicking the [Apply] button.
If the optional hard disk unit is not installed on your printer, note that the data in the memory is cleared when the printer is turned off.
The layout of CentreWare Internet Services is divided into three frames. The details can be found in "Page Display Format".
Page Display Format
The layout of CentreWare Internet Services is divided into the following three frames.

Left Frame |
Right Frame |
Header Frame
The header frame is located at the top of all pages. The CentreWare Internet Services logo, the model name of the printer, and the [Help] button are displayed.
The page tabs (links) to the CentreWare Internet Services feature (Status, Jobs, Properties, Printer, and Support) pages are also displayed.
-
Status
Displays the [General] page which allows you to view the information and status of the printer. The bottom of the [General] page displays a link to the copyright information. This page is the first page you will see when you connect to CentreWare Internet Services.
From this page, you can display each of the [Printer Status] pages and [Fault Status] page. Each of the [Printer Status] pages displays the status of the paper trays, output tray, covers, and consumables. The [Fault Status] page informs you of errors and jams in the printer.
The latest information of the printer will be displayed in the right frame when the [Refresh] button is clicked.
- Jobs
Displays the job and history lists.
- Properties
Allows you to view and configure the printer properties.
- Printer
Allows you to configure the user restriction settings using the printer's authentication feature.
- Support

Left Frame
The left frame displays the items that can be viewed or configured on the setting pages in a hierarchical tree structure.
Each folder in the tree has [+] or [-] sign on its left. Click [+] or [-] sign to expand or collapse the items under each folder.
The contents in the left frame vary depending on the tab you selected.
Right Frame
The right frame displays the detailed description of the item selected in the left frame.
The contents in the right frame vary depending on the item you selected.
User Authentication and Security
You may be prompted at times to enter a user name and password to change settings because of
the authentication settings of the printer. You may even need a "certificate" if data encryption is enabled between your printer and
browser.
- Changing the Settings
You will be prompted to enter a user name and password if [Enabled] is selected under the [Properties] tab > [Security] > [Administrator Settings].
If prompted, enter the administrator login ID and password registered on the printer.
The default ID and password are "admin" and "NECPRADMIN", respectively.
- Encrypting Transmissions
The data transmitted between the printer and web browsers can be encrypted. To enable this feature, create a certificate under [Security] on the [Properties] tab, and enable [SSL/TLS Server Communication].
The data encryption feature may not be available depending on the model of your printer and the options installed. If your printer does not support this feature, [Security] does not appear on the [Properties] tab.
Saving Non-alphanumeric Characters
The printer uses Unicode UTF-8 to save characters. In general, UTF-8 requires 2 to 4 bytes to save a non-alphanumeric character.
Therefore, if you enter non-alphanumeric characters in text boxes, the entire characters may not be saved even if they are displayed in text boxes.
