Creating Certificates


The following procedure uses the case when the window size of the web browser is the large screen.

  1. Click [Log In] on the upper right corner.
  2. Note

    If [Local User] is displayed on the upper right corner, move to step 3.

  3. Enter [User Name] and [Password] for the system administrator, and then click [Log In].
  4. Click [System] > [Security] > [Security Certificates].
  5. The [Security Certificates] dialog box is displayed.

  6. Select [Device Certificates] from the drop-down list box.
  7. Click [Create].
  8. Select [Create Self-Signed Certificate] or [Create Certificate Signing Request (CSR)].
  9. ♦When [Create Self-Signed Certificate] Is Selected

    The [Create Self-Signed Certificate] dialog box is displayed.

    [Digital Signature Algorithm]

    Displays the algorithm used for digital signature.

    [Public Key Length]

    Select the length of the public key.

    This item is displayed when [Digital Signature Algorithm] is set to [RSA/SHA-256], [RSA/SHA-384] or [RSA/SHA-512].

    [Elliptic Curve]

    Select the elliptic curve to use.

    This item is displayed when [Digital Signature Algorithm] is set to [ECDSA/SHA-256], [ECDSA/SHA-384] or [ECDSA/SHA-512].

    [Issuer]

    Select the issuer of the certificate.

    [Validity Period]

    Enter the effective time period of the created certificate.

    ♦When [Create Certificate Signing Request (CSR)] Is Selected

    The [Create Certificate Signing Request (CSR)] dialog box is displayed.

    [Digital Signature Algorithm]

    Displays the algorithm used for digital signature.

    [Public Key Length]

    Select the length of the public key.

    This item is displayed when [Digital Signature Algorithm] is set to [RSA/SHA-1], [RSA/SHA-256], [RSA/SHA-384] or [RSA/SHA-512].

    [Elliptic Curve]

    Select the elliptic curve to use.

    This item is displayed when [Digital Signature Algorithm] is set to [ECDSA/SHA-1], [ECDSA/SHA-256], [ECDSA/SHA-384] or [ECDSA/SHA-512].

    [2-Letter Country Code (C)]

    Enter your country code.

    [State/Province Name (ST)]

    Enter the name of state or region where your organization is located. The following characters can be entered:

    • Up to 16 bytes (single-byte only)
    • Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and spaces

    [Locality Name (L)]

    Enter the name of the city where your organization is located. The following characters can be entered:

    • Up to 32 bytes (single-byte only)
    • Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and spaces

    [Organization Name (O)]

    Enter your organization name. The following characters can be entered:

    • Up to 32 bytes (single-byte only)
    • Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and spaces

    [Organization Unit (OU)]

    Enter your organization unit name such as a division name. The following characters can be entered:

    • Up to 32 bytes (single-byte only)
    • Alphanumeric characters, periods (.), and spaces

    [Common Name (CN)]

    Displays the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) used for an SSL communication.

    [Email Address]

    Displays the e-mail address to contact your organization.

  10. Click [Create].
  11. The certificate is created.
